Day 1 - May 27 - Bologna: Welcome to Emilia Romagna. If you didn’t join us for the Venice pre-tour and are just arriving today, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to the hotel in Bologna. Enjoy a welcome drink and overview of our week together. In the evening, we will start off right with a typical Emilia Romagna dinner.

Day 2 - May 28 - Bologna: Vinegar, Wine and Ferrari. Let’s beat jet lag the right way! Today, we are heading for the countryside to breathe some fresh Italy air. The Modena country side is where balsamic vinegar (the good stuff at least) is produced. Our guide will take us through the attached winery and we will do a tasting of the finished products right before our lunch in the farmhouse restaurant. Now that we are nice and full, let’s look at Andrea’s next car at the Ferrari Gallery. After we purchase our new cars (or even if we only dream), we will head back to the hotel. We have the rest of the evening at our leisure. You may choose to rest, shop, find a great dinner spot, or all the above.

Day 3 - May 29 - Bologna: Old Market and St. Stefano Square. Food time! Our guide will take us around the city to see the greatest sites of the city, especially the Old Market. On our way we will see the basilica and everything Piazza Maggiore (The Major Square) has to offer. We will work up an appetite and once you see the quality cuisine at the market, there will be no stopping us. We can choose from delicious pastas, cheese, ham, fish, bread, fruits and vegetables. It’s create-your-own-lunch day! Tonight, we will enjoy dinner at a typical Bologna restaurant.

Day 4 - May 30 - Porreta Terme: Emilia Romagna Tour. Today we are packing up and we will head to the cheese. Parmigiano Reggiano, that is. As we enjoy the cheese, we will see the factory and inner workings of the production of this important, regional cheese. Then off we go to see castles and enjoy the scenery during an easy hike along the trenches to reach Mt. Belvedere. Don’t worry, we will have a lovely Italian picnic along the way, too! After our cheese and hiking adventure we will head to our new home for the next couple days, about 1 hour outside of Bolgona, Poretta Terme. Upon arrival and check in, there will be a little time to freshen up and lounge. Tonight, we will dine together at the hotel.

Day 5 - May 31 - Porreta Terme: Spa Day. We must take advantage of this beautiful spa hotel. One of the best in the area, and after several days of touring, hiking, drinking, and eating, this will be a nice break to rejuvenate and prepare ourselves for the last days of the tour. Lunch and dinner will be on your own today.

Day 6 - Jun 01 - Florence/Cortona. After breakfast, we are off to Tuscany. We will stop for a guided walking tour of Florence with my dear friend and of course we won’t miss out on the opportunity to have lunch at one of my favorite restaurants. From Florence, we will finish our day’s journey in a farmhouse type accommodation in Cortona. A light dinner will be served (trust me, after lunch that is all you will need).

Day 7 - Jun 02 - Cortona: We must see Cortona, so off we go to the city! A small and beautiful city, our guided visit will teach us some culture, some history and, of course, give us a taste of the area with a wine and olive oil tasting at one of my favorite shops. Now that we have worked up an appetite, let’s head back “home” to cook and dine with an Italian family.

Day 8 - Jun 03 - Cortona: Today, you will enjoy the day at your leisure. Enjoy the pool on property, have a picnic on the grass, or go into town.

Day 9 - Jun 04 - End of services: If you are joining us for the Rome post-tour, details will be available separately.
